A prominent Labour blogger has accused Tory MP for Ipswich, Ben Gummer, of not having a proper address in Ipswich, nearly six months after taking the seat from Labour’s Chris Mole, whilst a quick trip to Mr Gummer’s website shows an office in the IP-City building in Bath Road.
Labour seem to think that it is hidden away down by the river, whilst their office in Silent Street was much easier to find. There is a lot of fuss being caused by this, but is it all heat and no light?
After all, in Ipswich we have two MPs. For the several thousand people who live in the North Ipswich wards their MP is Dr Dan Poulter. His office is given as London. At least Ben Gummer has a an office!
We at Ipswich Spy think it would be helpful if all the residents of Ipswich had easy access to the constituency office of their MP. Neither Earl Soham, or Bath Street, fit this criteria. Until new offices are found, both Mr Gummer and Dr Poulter will face considerable criticism.

Well, let’s hope they don’t do what Chris Mole did, which is to rent an office from the Local Party Association, and thereby fund the Conservatives from MP’s expenses via the back door.
It would make sense for them to share an office…
Landmark House is going to have some spare space.
But Landmark House is nearly as difficult to get to by bus as Bath Road. For the benefit of all of the residents of Ipswich, our MPs need offices based in or close to the town centre.
the Landmark House remark was in jest…

Holding a surgery in the town once every two months isn’t the same as having an office presence here. As “Scrubber” says above, it would make sense for Dr Dan and Ben to share an office in the town centre somewhere.
