
Further evidence of the unreal world of the Daily Mail today, as (usually sensible) Mail columnist Quentin Letts attacks Ben Gummer for being a Patron of the Longford Trust, alongside Jon Snow, Lady Antonia Fraser, Denis Healey, Clive Stafford-Smith, Lady Scotland and Lady Hale, a Supreme Court judge compared by Letts to Polly Toynbee.
Ben Gummer has always been clear that he is in favour of prison reform and Ipswich Spy is clear that there is a big difference between favouring prison reform and being soft on crime. What makes it even more ludicrous for the Daily Mail and Quentin Letts to attack Ben for being a Tory MP and a trustee of the Longford Trust is the last name on the list of Patrons of the Longford Trust: Ann Widdecombe.
